Re-engineered GUI for touch screen devices
SmartZone Navigation 3 provides a completely re-engineered graphical user interface (GUI) for software running Pocket PC or Symbian UIQ, best selling operating systems for touch screen devices. The new GUI significantly improves product usability:
- Subscribers can access all functions and menus by fingertip-control on the touch screen, making the stylus almost unnecessary.
- Destination address input has been simplified, reducing the number of clicks to first vocal instruction. For instance, users can now launch navigation to their bookmarked favourite locations in only three clicks.
- Information display has been optimised:
- Maps and pictogram views are simultaneously displayed. Users can enlarge one or the other simply by tapping the screen;
- The current road and the next road name are both permanently displayed.
Improve ergonomics for non touch screen devices
Improved ergonomics for software running on Symbian Series 60 and Microsoft Smartphones include simplified menus and full compliance with operating system guidelines, making the software even more intuitive and easy to use.
Advanced address bookmarking functionalities
SmartZone Navigation 3 allows users to store personal addresses that can be re-used at any time. Bookmarked addresses are already geocoded and allow launching navigation more quickly. Bookmarking functionalities enable:
- To bookmark any address at any time including locations along the route;
- To display a map around a bookmarked address. For example, this feature helps users to find their way on foot from the car park to their destination.
Merged or "concatenated" instructions
At complex junctions, the pictogram mode features merged or "concatenated" intersection pictograms enabling to illustrate simultaneously two successive instructions. Merged pictograms are coupled with merged voice instructions such as "at the roundabout, take the second exit and then turn right";
Connection status
GPS and GPRS/3G mobile connection status are both permanently displayed.
